Annapolis (WBFF-TV) — Maryland state senators have voted on Governor Wes Moore's controversial pick to lead the Department of Juvenile Services. Vincent Schiraldi has been confirmed as the new secretary of the DJS.
In Annapolis Tuesday, before the vote there was more debate over Schiraldi's nomination.
"There has to be accountability and there has to be some sticks that go with the carrots," said Senator Justin Ready, the republican who represents Carroll and Frederick Counties.
"There should be a focus on what we're going to do with violent juvenile offenders," said republican Mary Beth Carozza who represents Somerset, Worcester and Wicomico Counties.
