Not a Game: Saving Lives with Virtual Reality Emergency Training

Virtual reality simulations are being used to provide crucial emergency training to law enforcement and first responders. These simulations allow individuals to experience a three-dimensional computer-generated emergency scenario, helping them understand their instincts and fine-tune their crisis responses. This session at MACo’s Tech Expo will explore how virtual reality training saves lives and brings awareness to the realities of emergency encounters. The speakers for this session include Joseph Costantini, Manager of Police in Service Training Unit at Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Service, Lt. Brendan Boettinger, Training Coordinator of Advanced Officer Training at Prince George’s County Police Department, and John C. Moses, Director of Criminal Justice at Wor-Wic Community College. The session will be moderated by The Honorable Mary Beth Carozza, MD State Senate. The session will take place on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, from 11:15 am to 12:15 pm.
