St. Paul’s opens addition to begin new chapter
(May 4, 2018) St. Paul’s by-the-Sea Episcopal Church at 302 Baltimore Ave. celebrated a rebirth Saturday during the Blessing of The Fellowship Commons, a two-story addition built to replace a portion destroyed by fire in Nov. 2013.
With Ocean City car events season reving up soon, bills still await action
With the beginning of spring and car events fast approaching in Ocean City, bills in the Maryland General Assembly that would create special event zones are awaiting action by their committees.
On Feb. 27, Sen. Mathias's version of the bill was heard before the Judicial Proceedings Committee, and on March 2, Delegate Mary Beth Carozza's version was heard before the Environment and Transportation Committee.
"It is brought to you as an emergency bill so that we have these tools in place for upcoming motor vehicle events in the spring," Carozza said during her bill's hearing.

Despite complaining to a doctor days earlier about cataracts so severe "it was like driving through a cloud" and quitting his job as a delivery driver because it was unsafe, then-60-year-old Marion Jones got behind the wheel on Feb. 22, 2016, Interim Worcester State's Attorney Bill McDermott said during testimony before a General Assembly committee.

Officials attempting to accelerate Convention Center renovation funding
Officials are hoping a meeting in Annapolis this week will allow the convention center to host even bigger shows in the future, which could generate millions of dollars more for the area.
As of now, Ocean City Mayor Rick Meehan says the town has actually had to turn business opportunities away, because of the size of the current convention center. That means money lost for the town, and lost job opportunities.
"Our existing shows, just like the boat show today, needs more space. They want to come back and continue to do their shows here, right here in Ocean City, but we need more space so that they can have more exhibits," says District 38C Delegate Mary Beth Carozza

Delegate Mary Beth Carozza, R-38C, has introduced legislation to allow the dice game of bunco to be included with already legalized home games such as mahjong where one is allowed to wager with certain restrictions.
House Bill 581 was heard before the House Ways and Means Committee Wednesday afternoon.

Carozza provides updates on pending sponsored legislation
(Feb. 9, 2018) Delegate Mary Beth Carozza has been tracking several bills since the start of the session last month, and provided an update on the status of some of her priority projects.
For Ocean City, Carozza has been pursuing three areas of interest. First, she is working to delay the accrual of paid sick time for certain employees, next, she is working to move offshore wind turbines farther from shore, and finally she is working to establish a special events zone in the resort.
